About the Regex Tester
The Regex Tester lets you write a regular expression and see live which parts of your sample text match. Developers and data analysts use it to build and debug patterns for search, validation and parsing.
Regex Tester FAQ
What is a regular expression?
A regular expression (regex) is a pattern that describes text, such as an email address or a date format, used for searching, validating and replacing text.
What do the g, i and m flags mean?
g finds all matches instead of the first, i ignores upper and lower case, and m makes ^ and $ match at the start and end of each line.
Why does my regex match too much?
Quantifiers like .* are greedy and match as much as possible. Add ? (for example .*?) to make them match as little as possible.
